Impact-tolerant PLA
PLA Tough+

Higher impact tolerance with familiar PLA production practicality.

PLA Tough+ is intended for parts that need more resistance to knocks than ordinary PLA, while retaining relatively easy PLA processing.

Match the actual part geometry and service conditions to the grade and test context, not just its family name.

What it brings

PLA Tough+ is intended for parts that need more resistance to knocks than ordinary PLA, while retaining relatively easy PLA processing.

Selection verdict

Choose PLA Tough+ for indoor functional prototypes and repeatedly handled parts when impact tolerance matters, but heat and UV are not dominant requirements.

Published test-specimen data is for comparison only. Orientation, conditioning, processing and geometry can change finished-part performance. Heat-deflection temperature is a standardised test, not a continuous-use rating.

Selection logic.

Practical reasons to choose or avoid this material for a specific part.

Advantages

  • Much higher published unnotched XY impact result than PLA Matte
  • Useful layer toughness for handled parts
  • Good choice for indoor functional prototypes

Watch-outs

  • 61°C HDT at 0.45 MPa is not a high-temperature service rating
  • Impact values are specimen and orientation dependent
  • Not a substitute for ASA in sustained outdoor UV exposure
